Curriculum
Why Avenir Nursery Chooses English and Chinese
Foreign language education have become mandatory from elementary school. Learning a foreign language from infancy will help you acquire native pronunciation, understand different characters, grammar and develop a high level of internationality. Also in the field of brain science, there are survey results showing that children who grew up in a multilingual environment from their infancy tend to perform better in school.
The growing awareness of English education is steadily increasing the number of people who can speak English. However, there are still few people who can speak Chinese in addition to English.
In consideration of the future of children, Avenir Nursery has introduced trilingual education in their specialized language English and Chinese, which is essential in the world today.
It is very effective to learn English and Chinese at the same time and improve your ability to speak with beautiful pronunciation.
There are many opinions that “it is confusing if you study three languages at the same time,” but it is said that the infants with their soft ears are the “golden period” of language study. At this time, children can absorb knowledge from their surroundings like a sponge and imitate words as they come in through their ears.
In terms of language structure, English consists of 16 vowels and 29 consonants, and Chinese consists of 36 vowels and 21 consonants.
In addition, there are four tones in English and four tones in Chinese. By touching more pronunciations, the pronunciation of foreign languages, which Japanese people are not good at, will be as accurate and beautiful as a specialized speaker.
At Avenir Nursery, we have full-time English and Chinese teachers and in their daily childcare life the children will learn English and Chinese in order to acquire three different languages.

Infant Care (0-2 year old class)
Infant childcare is divided into classes according to age, and we provide childcare so that we can support each child according to their development.
The most important thing in infancy is to foster trust in people. By imitating the person you love, you will grow an important heart as a person.
We believe that “Eating,” “sleeping,” and “excretion,” are the core of everyday life, it is important to value “regularity”, “cleanliness” and “more human relations”, and to support it all with a gentle smile.
Just as at home you have a place to eat and a place to sleep, even at a nursery school you can find a place you can call “home” where you can live without worries.
Through playtime we prepare an environment so that development of athletic ability, hand functions, cognitive ability, etc. and can be done without difficulty so that we can help out during the childs playtime and the child can actively work on the surrounding environment.
English and Chinese childcare
We Incorporate English and Chinese into the flow of the day with “foreign language time” lessons. The language teachers then join in with the everyday childcare.
Infancy is not at a stage of studying yet, but will try to absorb and learn various things in the surrounding environment. Children who live everyday in a environment filled with foreign languages created by our instructors do not have the consciousness of it being foreign language and remember the English and Chinese as words. This is the called language environment.
Through English and Chinese childcare, they will experience foreign nursery rhymes, plays, customs and we will create a fulfilling fun environment that cultivates the internationality of children.
Language Program
This is a unique program based on the Japanese language, jointly developed by full-time English teachers, Chinese teachers, and nursery teachers to help promote language skills.
We use educational cards, music, and story-telling along with the annual curriculum so that children can enjoy learning naturally every day.
●Japanese/English/Chinese
Become able to understand greetings and teachers words and instructions in Japanese, English, and Chinese through daily conversations, (colors, numbers, shapes, weather, emotions, personal things) that match the situation, reading and writing their own name and aquiring the communication skills required to make a self-introduction.
Exercise Program
It is said that motor development and intelligence development are proportional to each other, therefor exercise using the whole body is important factor from infancy.
In order to cultivate the ability to control ones body according to sound and rhythm to promote physical strength and development due to lack of exercise we have built a large curriculum that involvers mat exercises, balance beam, jump box, etc. We have also introduced circuit training to improve strength and endurance.
Fine Motor Skills
Fine motor exercise is essential for children’s development along with large movement exercise.
Exercises that use small hands to adjust small muscles, such as dropping, tapping, grasping, and picking.
It is said that these minute movements also affect the development of intelligence, and studies have shown that children who have had many experiences during infancy have good grades during school years. The Montessori education method, which is famous for encouraging minute movements, is adopted, and we will provide a high-quality environment where children’s desire to “want to do it!” is evoked by using embedded puzzles, stringing, sand pictograms, etc…
Cooking
We will carry out experiments and observations by asking children questions they want answers to such as “What is this?” “What is going on?” There are many things around us that are the basis of science, such as water, air, heat, and sound. For example, you will experience the nature of aqueous solutions and the experiment of static electricity, experience the fun of trying, and develop the ability to think, express, and socialize by learning while having fun.
Abacus
Preschoolers can understand numbers visually and can develop self-confidence, concentration, attention, patience, memory, and information processing skills. They can develop their right-brain, which processes information starting with educational toys. By making brain active we can lay the foundation for learning that enhances brain functions, which will change the structure of the brain for the better.
Emotional Education
A nursery school is a place for children to live with other children and experience their first group activities.
We will continue to support children so that they can express their compassion as a person that can say words of gratitude like “Thank you” and when they make mistakes they can say “I’m sorry.”
We will lead the children to having a gentle heart by learning the value of life of insects, animals, and plants, fostering appreciation for food by cooking, recycling familiar things, learning the importance of using things.
